The Start Museum, situated in the West Bund area of Xuhui district in Shanghai, has launched an innovative screening project, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the world of video artworks during the evening hours.

The museum's inaugural screening project, which commenced on March 9 and will run through to April 14, showcases video art by 21 artists from both domestic and international backgrounds.

Looking ahead, the museum aims to make the screening project an annual event, with the goal of systematically exploring the historical evolution of international video art and highlighting the accomplishments of contemporary artists in this genre.

Within the exhibition hall, patrons have the opportunity to leisurely wander, relax in comfortable beanbag chairs, or even recline on the floor to view the artwork from various perspectives.

During the screening project, the Start Museum has extended its opening hours until 8 pm on weekdays and 9 pm on weekends.

Nestled along the western bank of the Huangpu River, the Start Museum occupies the historic site of China's first land-water transport railway platform, established in 1907. Originally serving as the Shanghai South Railway Station in the 1950s and subsequently the warehouse of Nanpu Railway Station, this location has been transformed into a contemporary museum space.

Designed by Jean Nouvel, recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize, the museum's core design concept focuses on the revitalization of the original historical structure, seamlessly integrating the surrounding landscape to create a fresh cultural and leisure environment for the public.
