'Spy x Family Code: White' captivates Chinese anime fans

Chinese anime fans eagerly flocked to theaters for 'Spy x Family Code: White,' one of Japan's top-grossing films of the year, which opened across mainland China on April 30. According to the China Movie Data Information Network, the film quickly topped the box office charts on its opening day.

Based on the popular manga series by Japanese artist Tatsuya Endo, "Spy × Family Code: White" revolves around an unconventional family: a spy father, an assassin mother, and their telepathic daughter. Together, they embark on a thrilling new mission that promises to captivate audiences.

The film's premiere, held at the Solana shopping complex in downtown Beijing on April 20, was a notable event. It featured the world’s first outdoor film screening on a Cinity LED screen, showcasing advanced screen technology developed in China. The premiere also included a meticulously designed 1,000-square-meter area that recreated various iconic scenes and elements from the movie, providing an immersive experience for fans.

"Spy x Family Code: White," which premiered in Japan on Dec. 22 last year, has garnered critical acclaim with a 7.7 out of 10 rating from more than 25,000 users' reviews on Douban, China's major review aggregator. By Thursday noon, the film had earned over 120 million yuan at the Chinese box office, reflecting its massive popularity among viewers.
