'The Last Frenzy' explores life's choices in the face of death

In the new film "The Last Frenzy," the central character Jia Youwei, played by comedic actor Jia Bing, grapples with life-altering decisions when confronted with an incurable illness and a mere 10 days left to live. Choosing to spend his million yuan property proceeds on unforgettable experiences with friends, Jia embarks on a poignant journey of camaraderie and self-discovery.

As the narrative unfolds, Jia's final days become a testament to celebrating the bonds of friendship, culminating in unexpected twists, including a chance encounter with a woman he once admired from afar.

Anticipation for the film, which was released in domestic theaters on May 1, has surged. It earned more than 87 million yuan ($12 million) at the box office, making it the country's second-highest presold film on the first day of the May Day holiday.

At a recent promotional event, Wuerna, the ethnic Mongolian director behind the movie, shared her aspirations for "The Last Frenzy." Filled with a blend of hilarity and heartfelt moments, the film aims to gently remind audiences of the value of friendship within a lighthearted narrative framework.
