The National Aquatics Center in Beijing hosted a friendship event on May 10, 2024, bringing together students from Ying Wa Primary School in Hong Kong and Beijing Haidian Minzu Primary School for an exchange of art performances and sport competition.
During the performing arts portion of the event, young talents from Ying Wa Primary School's string orchestra performed musical pieces like "Radestky March" and "Persis," while their peers from Beijing showcased a dance performance titled "Five-star Red Flag Fluttering in the Wind." Students from both primary schools then came together to jointly sing "Together for a Shared Future," a song that shares the same name as the motto of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
Following the performances, students from Hong Kong tried their hand at curling inside the venue's Ice Sports Center. At the end of the event, students concluded their time by illuminating the venue's iconic blue lights.
Looking ahead, the National Aquatics Center will continue to act as a platform to reach out to compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as overseas Chinese, promoting further integration between these groups and the venue's water and ice sport programs in a bid to enhance the high-quality development of the facility.
