The 15th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will be held in Beijing from April 18 to 26.

This year marks the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema. From the Lumière brothers' first film screening in Paris in 1895 to the debut of the first Chinese film, "The Battle of Dingjunshan" in 1905, cinema has endured across centuries, evolving and inspiring audiences.

The BJIFF, now in its 15th year, has evolved since its inception. It introduced the Tiantan Award in its third year, becoming a significant event in China's film calendar.

Over the past 15 years, guided by the principles of "co-creation, sharing, win-win, appreciation, resonance and symbiosis," the festival has become a vital platform for dialogue between Chinese and international filmmakers, fostering the growth and prosperity of the film industry. Beijing, where Chinese cinema originated, serves as a fitting backdrop for the festival's tribute to cinema's lasting legacy.
