GDP reached 1625.19 billion yuan (US$260.84 billion) in 2011, up 8.1 percent year-on-year.

Education

 

There are over 100 colleges and universities in Beijing, most of them state-run or affiliated, with just a handful of private institutions. Education levels in Beijing are among the highest in China, with an average university enrollment rate of 80% in 2012 for youth aged 18-22.

Electricity

 

220V 50 HZ. Transformers (220v to 110v) are available in all major hotels for hair dryers and electric shavers.

Environment

 

Increasing urbanization, traffic volume and pollution are major environmental threats, but awareness and environmental action are both on the increase.

Ethnic Groups


 

96.1% of Beijing's population is of Han Group, but you may run into someone from any of China's 56 ethnic groups.
