The Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Radio, Film and the Television and Beijing Municipal People's Government all signed an agreement on March 14, to co-build the new campus of the Beijing Film Academy (BFA).

The new BFA campus is located in Songzhuang of Tongzhou District and construction will start this year. The first phase is expected to be put into use in 2015.

Covering an area of 500 mu (33 hectares), which is four times that of the current campus, it is estimated to cost some two billion yuan.

"It will construct an 80-meters-high film mansion, and house China's first film education museum inside," Hou Guangming, secretary of the Party Committee with the Beijing Film Academy, said.

The construction of the new campus will be divided into three phases and the first phase is expected to be put into use in 2015. It will be used for undergraduate teaching, newly established disciplines' and interdisciplinary disciplines' training. The old campus will serve for graduate education.

Moreover, BFA will strengthen cooperation with other higher education institutions in terms of talent training. It has already started joint training with the School of Animation and Digital Arts with the Communication University of China and Beijing Normal University.
