The annual Beijing International Kite Festival took place on April 15 at the Olympic Sports Park in Tongzhou District. The event was hosted by the Beijing People´s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC) with the aim to encourage foreign Beijing residents to actively participate in the city's traditional cultural exchanges.

Kite-flying fans from China, Ruanda, Malaysia, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, India, Singapore and several more showed up at the festival. After the opening ceremony, kites of all shapes and sizes were demonstrated and the sky was filled with quite the colorful kite display.

The festival proved greatly entertaining for young and old. After a joint lunch, participants were taught how to make their own kites and as the event drew to a close, everyone tried to fly their self-made kite.
