Li Shuying, female, born in 1946, was a villager in Beijing’s Changping District. In 1985, Li’s neighbor, whose family has a history of mental illness, had a baby boy. Li, who was there to help, took the newborn home and took care of him after seeing that the poor family cannot afford to raise the baby. She named the baby Laishun. In 1995, Li took Laishun’s mother home after his father died in a car accident and his paternal grandparents passed away. Li brought Laishun up and looked after his mother, using her generosity to interpret \the meaning of love. [Photo from bjby.bjwmb.gov.cn]
