Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province is launching a joint bid with Beijing to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Now, with winter in full swing, Chongli in Zhangjiakou, which will be the venue for snow events if the bid is successful, is bustling with skiing enthusiasts as snowmakers roar and ski lifts hum along.

Skiing activities at Chongli have been open to the public since 1996, and the ten years since then witnessed the establishment of four ski areas, several cableways, plateau training bases and a total of eighty-two trails at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.

The 14th Chongli International Skiing Festival has opened and will last through April 15, 2015. Many professional contests, such as FIS Integral Match and Alpine Skiing Match, will be held during the festival along with themed activities in celebration of Christmas and New Year's Eve. Chongli is also dedicated to improving its accommodation services by building its first six-star hotel.
