"Wolf Totem," a Sino-French co-production with its agreement signed during the Third Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) in 2013, was shown on Feb. 19, 2015.

The film, directed by French director Jean Jacques Arno, has been very popular since the initial showing .

The novel "Wolf Totem," written by the Chinese writer Jiang Rong, is about the life of the educated urban youth. Based on humans, nature, animal protection and wolves in particular, the popular novel has been translated into more than 30 languages.

More films, whose contracts were inked at the BJIFF over the past four years, will be shown this year.

In recent years, the Chinese film industry has worked together with foreign countries and a growing number of co-productions have emerged.

The festival has led to many film cooperation projects, according to the film festival's organizing committee.

So far, excellent films, such as "My Spy Grandpa," "Seventy-seven Days" and "Shouting from the Mountain," have been produced. More co-productions are due to be filmed this year.

The BJIFF, established in 2011, is an annual event hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Beijing Municipal People's Government. It's a high-end platform for the exchange and cooperation among film producers and distributors, film institutions, as well as film stars from home and abroad.
