A famous Chinese scroll painting－Along the River During the Qingming Festival－is on display at a special exhibition which kicked off on September 8, 2015 at the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, in Beijing, capital of China. The 5.28-meter-long painting, dubbed "China's Mona Lisa," was completely unrolled for the first time in nearly a decade to mark the museum's 90th anniversary. The artwork, created by famous Chinese painter Zhang Zeduan (1085–1145), depicts the cityscape and daily life in Bian Jing, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The exhibition, titled "The Precious Collection of the Stone Moat," showcases a total of 283 treasures recorded in a catalog of the same name compiled under the supervision of several Qing Dynasty emperors. Most of the exhibits are from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). The exhibition will close on November 8. [Photo from Chinanews.com]
