I was diagnosed with systematic lupus erythematosus in 2004. To make things worse, my father got laid off, my boyfriend broke up with me and I lost my job at the same time. Then, one year later, the side effects of the medications I had been taking led to the necrosis of both my femoral joints.

The pressures of life and my guilt over not being able to take care of my parents deprived me of the courage to think about the future for some time. It took me over half a year to accept reality. I then successfully applied for a disability certificate from my community, and the love of society, of my family and of my friends has restored my courage to keep enjoying life.

In April 2011, through the recommendation of the street disability service, I entered the Warm Home for the Disabled with a grateful heart and became a teacher there.

Though I suffer from terrible pain with every step I make, I have earned the students’ true love with my teaching efforts. I speak to and guide them with a smile and with patience whenever they are upset, and I help them realize their self-value.

I will continue to live happily by keeping all the moving moments I have experienced on my mind and by letting the flower of harmony and kindness blossom in everyone’s heart.
