China Coal profits soar 90%

Annual results published April 9 by China Coal Energy Company Ltd (HK 1898) show a 2007 net profit of 6.020 billion yuan, up 89.8% from 2006. Revenue rose 20.5% to 36.428 billion yuan. Earnings per share were 0.51 yuan and the Board has recommended a dividend of 0.06226 yuan per share.

In a statement to shareholders board chairman Jing Tianliang said the improved results reflected in part continuing strong demand for coal and high domestic and international prices.
