China Vanke Corp said sales more than doubled in the first quarter and more than half of the units the company sold in March were apartments with a gross floor area space of less than 90 square meters.

The Shenzhen-based company, the country's largest publicly listed developer, sold a total of 1.14 million square meters' new homes nationwide in the first three months of this year for some 10.1 billion yuan (US$1.44 billion).

The figure was up 82.9 percent and 119.1 percent, respectively, from same period a year earlier, according to its latest quarterly report.
