Adjust font size:

Shanghai Electric started construction of its manufacturing base for wind power equipment on Thursday in Lingang, Pudong New Area, aiming for 14 billion yuan in sales from the wind sector.

The project, at a total cost of 143 million yuan, will match the firm's another wind power equipment site in Minhang District. The new facility will be capable of producing 600 wind turbines each with a generating capacity of 2 megawatts annually. Construction will be completed in the final quarter of next year.

The company has made wind power one of its key development areas, aiming to generate 14 billion yuan in annual sales in five years from the sector and tapping overseas markets.
