3G licence goes to China Mobile
Adjust font size:

China Mobile Ltd will receive a license to operate third-generation wireless services from the Chinese government today, Sina.com reported yesterday, citing people it didn't identify.

It's unclear when other Chinese phone carriers will receive 3G licenses, the Chinese language online news service said. China's State Council, or the Cabinet, said on December 31 that the Ministry of Industry and Information Industry should proceed with issuing the high-speed wireless licenses. The ministry, which regulates the telecommunications industry, said it will award the permits ''prudently.''
