Steel sector reports 24.7% rise in sales in 2008

China's 71 large- and medium-sized steel companies reported a combined sales of 2,565 billion yuan in 2008, up 24.7 percent from 2007. Of the total, 15 companies, or 21.1 percent, posted an aggregate loss of 8.46 billion yuan, China Iron and Steel Association said Monday.
