BOC plans to invest in publishing

Bank of China, the nation's third-largest lender by market value, plans to step into the publishing industry this year, spokesman Wang Zhaowen was quoted as saying by Securities Daily.

"If there is any suitable program in the publishing industry, BOC is willing to invest. And we're also ready to finance the expansion of existing publishing companies," Wang said.

BOC is due to release its earnings report for 2008 on Tuesday evening.
