S. Korea's Hyundai, Kia recall 48,000 vehicles
Adjust font size:

Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, South Korea's top carmaker, is recalling 48,636 vehicles of its 10 models as problems with their brake lights were detected, South Korea's Korea Times reported Monday.

Vehicles subject to the recall include 37,794 vehicles from Hyundai models, such as the Santa Fe, the Veracruz, the Avante, the Sonata and the Grandeur, and 10,842 from Kia's lines, the Carnival, the Grand Carnival, the Sportage, the Carens and the Sorrento, produced between September and November in 2006, Korea Times said.

The vehicles detected with loose brake light connections run risks of causing serious accidents as drivers do not get to see brake lights ahead and other drivers might not realize their brake lights do not work, according to the media.

Owners of the vehicles have access to free repair service at the maker's service centers from Tuesday, or a refund for expenses already paid before the recall announcement.
