Eric Schmidt stepped down as the CEO of Google, and cofounder Larry Page is taking over, the company announced in its earnings release last year. He was CEO of Google for the best part of 10 years before his resignation. Now executive chairman, he focuses on "deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership."
Google released the social network Google+ soon after Eric Schmidt resigned as CEO.
