Hironobu Sakaguchi took the reins as president of Square USA in 1995. He is world famous as the creator of the Final Fantasy series, and has had a long career in gaming with over 100 million video games sold worldwide. Square merged with its rival, the Enix Corporation, in 2003. Sakaguchi stepped down after the merger and founded his own studio, Mistwalker, in 2004.
