Hyundai Motor Group (China) Ltd. will recall 214 vehicles in China over defective parking brakes, according to the country's top quality watchdog.

The affected vehicles are imported Genesis models produced between Nov. 20, 2013 and Feb. 27, 2015, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on its website.

Poor contact in the switches of the cars' parking brakes could create safety risks, the administration said.

The company will replace the faulty switches for free. The recall will start on Aug. 21.

Owners of the vehicles will be informed of the recall via registered mail, according to the administration.
