Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt in Boao on Saturday, pledging to facilitate substantial cooperation with the country and promote greater progress of bilateral relations.

The meeting was held on the sideline of the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), which opened on Saturday afternoon in Boao of southern China's Hainan Province.

Hailing the achievement of bilateral ties, Hu said the two countries have strengthened political trust and conducted fruitful cooperation in the areas of technology, environmental protection and energy over the years.

China considers its relations with Sweden from a strategic height and long-term point of view, he said, calling on joint efforts to cement substantial cooperation in various fields and enhance coordination in international affairs, so as to promote greater progress of bilateral ties.

In response, Reinfeldt said Sweden has been following China's development and is committed to promote bilateral friendship and win-win cooperation.

A successful Beijing Olympic Games means great significance to China, Asia and the world, he said, extending best wishes for its success.

The two sides also expounded respective position on the climate change issue, and agreed to enhance cooperation in this regard.

Hu and Reinfeldt also agreed to continue human rights dialogues on the basis of equal footing and respect.

Reinfeldt arrived in Sanya, a scenic city in Hainan Province, on Friday to start a five-day official visit to China as guest of Premier Wen Jiabao.

He attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of BFA annual meeting, which themed on "Green Asia: Moving Towards Win-Win Through Changes".
