2nd stimulus plan may roll out this week
Adjust font size:

The Chinese government will discuss the possibility of a new economic stimulus plan on April 15 at the executive meetings of the State Council, the Jinan Daily reported Monday, citing people close to the issue.

Five months have passed since the announcement of China's four-trillion-yuan stimulus package last November, with a growing number of voices calling for a new round of economic stimulus plans.

The economic data for the first quarter will be released this Friday, providing a realistic reference point for the adoption of a second stimulus package.

Fang Sihai, the chief economist at Hong Yuan Securities, thinks China needs to have a second package. However, the new stimulus was not likely to be a package, but rather a plan that focuses on people's livelihoods and consumption. According to Fang, nine sectors, including pharmaceutical, agriculture, new energy, real estate, banking, home appliances, auto, textile and electronic information, may benefit from the new plan.
