The world's famous industrial supplies manufacturer Honeywell International Inc. has announced its plan to integrate its research centers in Beijing and Shanghai to form its biggest R&D center in Asia.
The integrated research center, to be based in Shanghai, will involve a total investment of US$80 million.
"Recognizing the tremendous growth potential for Honeywell in China, we are pleased to announce the formation of the Honeywell Technology Solution (HTS)-Shanghai Integrated R&D Center (SIRDC) to oversee all R&D and technology programs undertaken by our businesses in Shanghai," said Shane Tedjarati, general manager of Honeywell China.
The center will have more than 1,000 researchers by 2008, according to the company's plan.
Tedjarati said SIRDC is comprised of very skilled and creative individuals who will thrive in an environment where they can directly support important business efforts while continue the teamwork that allows them to cross business lines, learn from each other and support a unified company approach to product development.
He added areas such as energy efficiency and infrastructure investment, a common engineering and technology model in China, will allow Honeywell to grow faster as the company put the best technical talent together to identify and promote new business solutions from across the company.
