Adjust font size:

The trade in agricultural products between Chinese mainland and Taiwan rose by 40.3 percent year on year to 800 million U.S. dollars in 2007, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Total trade volume between the mainland and Taiwan reached 124.48 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 15.4 percent.

Yang Yi, spokesman with the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the mainland planned to import high-quality fruit from Taiwan during the Beijing Olympics.

Detailed plans were under discussion between a Beijing fruit distributor and Taiwan farming organizations and enterprises, he said.

Taiwan is the mainland's seventh largest trade partner, ninth largest export market and fifth largest import market.
