Adjust font size:

Share prices on Chinese capital markets fell 2.5 percent in the morning session on Thursday, tracking an overnight Wall Street loss.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 43.98 points, or 2.5 percent, from the previous close to end the morning session at 1,716.63 points. The Shenzhen Component Index finished at 5,710.01 points, down 155.77 points, or 2.66 percent.

The drop almost wiped out the 3.16 percent gains from the previous trading day, when share prices bounced up and snapped the downward trend for three consecutive days.

Losses outnumbered gains by 727 to 136 in Shanghai, and by 629 to 105 in Shenzhen.
