China stocks down 2.44% on Wall Street slide

Chinese shares dropped 2.44 percent on Thursday tracking an overnight Wall Street loss.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed down 2.44 percent, or 42.89 points, to finish at 1,717.72. The Shenzhen index fell 2.48 percent, or 145.23 points, to close at 5,720.55points.

The combined turnover dropped to 37.61 billion yuan (US$5.66 billion), from Wednesday's 51.36 billion yuan.
