Police of central Hunan Province and southern Guangdong Province have seized 11 people suspected of forging huge amount of fake money, police authority in Hunan said Friday.

After more than two months' investigation, policemen seized the 11 suspects on Wednesday morning, in Chenzhou City of Hunan, and Guangzhou City and Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, respectively, according to the Public Security Bureau of Chenzhou.

Police also captured printing ink, a number of printing facilities, and forged Renminbi worth 90 million yuan (13.2 million U.S. dollars) at the sites.

Police are making further investigations into the case.

Circulations of fake Renminbi are constantly seen in China. The most impressive case occurred at the beginning of 2009 when fake banknotes, whose codes started with "HD 90," were rampantly spreading across the country.

The State Council, the country's Cabinet, launched a nationwide crackdown on counterfeiting in January.

Between 2006 and 2008, Chinese courts dealt with 3,228 forgery cases and sentenced 4,524 people. Among them, 838 or 18.5 percent were handed down prison terms of more than three years and, in the worst cases, death penalties.
