A boiler in a family factory in north China's Hebei Province exploded Wednesday, leaving three dead and three others injured, local government said.

The explosion in the plywood factory killed one and injured five on the scene in Lizhuang Village in Cixian County at 2 p.m.. Two of the injured died later in hospital, the county government said in a statement.

Initial investigation showed the factory had no operating license and the cause of the accident is being probed.
