Eight people were confirmed dead and 29 injured after a road crash late Sunday in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, rescuers told Xinhua Monday.
The accident happened at around 10:40 p.m., when a bus ran into a truck that had skidded and overturned on the icy surface of a highway in Yilan county.
Both drivers and six passengers died, and 28 were injured before another bus hit the tail of the truck, injuring one more person.
Eleven of the injured were seriously hurt, and most suffered fractures. Sixteen injured were taken to hospital in Jiamusi city, 11 to a hospital in Yilan county, and two to Harbin, the provincial capital, for treatment.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
