Incoming passengers will not be required to fill in Health Declaration Forms at the Hong Kong International Airport and boundary control points from next Monday, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region authority announced Thursday.

A government spokesman said the move took into consideration the spread of A/H1N1 flu around the world and in Hong Kong.

"It is an opportune time to fine-tune Hong Kong's boundary prevention and control measures and redeploy resources," he said.

The Department of Health (DH) will continue to conduct temperature screening for all incoming passengers at the airport and boundary control points while health messages on A/H1N1 flu will also be posted and broadcast, the spokesman said.

"Travelers can approach any DH staff at health posts at the airport or other control points for assistance if necessary," he added.

As for travelers heading for Shenzhen, Guangdong province, health declaration forms will continue to be distributed when they depart from Hong Kong.
