A senior Chinese leader Tuesday called on the entire country, including non-Party people, to mobilize against corruption.

He Guoqiang, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), the Party's internal anti-graft body, told a meeting attended by non-CPC people that combating corruption and upholding integrity was a "common task of the whole of society" and all forces should be mobilized to fight graft.

He, also a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the arduous fight against corruption should be fully assessed and the causes of graft should be thoroughly analyzed.

He said the ultimate goal of the anti-graft work was to "realize, safeguard and develop" the fundamental interests of the people.

He said the relationship of the CPC and democratic parties followed the guiding principle of "long-term existence and mutual supervision, treating each other with all sincerity and sharing weal and woe."

The CPC had attached great importance to the role of non-CPC personnel in combating corruption, he said.
