M-5.0 earthquake hits SW. China's Sichuan and Chongqing

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale jolted the border area between southwest China's Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality Sunday morning, according to China's national seismological network.

The epicenter was at the juncture part between Sichuan's Suining City and Chongqing's Tongnan County (30.3 degrees north latitude and 105.7 degrees east longitude), the network said.

The quake struck at 5:36 a.m. in Beijing time, with a depth of about 10 kilometers, the network said.
