East China's Jiangxi Province will kick off a program this year to train doctors in the province's counties, according to the provincial health authority Thursday.

The program will offer free training for 600 doctors of county-level hospitals in five years, said an official with Jiangxi Provincial Health Bureau.

"We are trying to help doctors to improve their skills, and thus improve medical treatment standards within the province," the official said.

But the official revealed no details about the program.
