Ten construction workers were killed after an unfinished three-story building collapsed in east China's Anhui Province Friday afternoon, local authorities said Saturday.
The building at Zonglou village in Suli township of Huaibei city collapsed at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, crushing ten workers to death at the site, the Huaibei city government said in a statement.
Their bodies were recovered from the rubble by late Friday night.
Most of the dead workers were relatives of the building's investor surnamed Luo, including four brothers-in-law of Luo.
Initial investigation has shown that the construction was illegal due to the lack of permit and construction qualifications of the workers.
Luo is now in police custody pending further investigation.
