Officials with Peking University who were accused of using stray cats for medical experiments said they were all from a government-approved breeding farm yesterday.

Invoices for buying the cats were provided by the medical school to prove the cats were supplied by a Beijing breeding farm, said the school's spokesman surnamed Jiang , reported Beijing News today.

However, the school declined to reveal the farm's name but said it was approved by the government and its registration information can be traced on the Internet.

The school was accused of conducting gruesome experiments on stray cats bought from dealers who round up feral felines and strays, according to the report.
