The crystal methamphetamine found at the Customs.

A Japanese man, who was leaving Qingdao Customs in Shandong province for Japan on May 12, was caught carrying 2,475 grams of crystal methamphetamine, the highest amount ever seized in Qingdao, the Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.

The man was about to take an 11:00 am flight from Qingdao to Japan's Fukuoka on May 12. Customs officers found the drugs hidden in his three tea caddies after the security check machine showed some unusual images of his bags.

The man is now in police detention. Investigation of the case is ongoing.
