China's Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday that no major contagious diseases or public health incidents had been reported in flood-hit areas in the south.

The ministry has dispatched four working groups to eight flood-hit provinces to give guidance to disease-control work, according to the ministry's emergency response office.

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention were evaluating disease-control situations. More expertise and medical materials would be sent to the flooded areas if needed, the office said.

Some health services in the affected regions had been restricted by flood-caused damages.

Statistics provided by the MOH showed that by June 22, 732 medical organizations in eight provinces had been affected by flooding, with 6,563 rooms and medicines and medical equipments destroyed.

Heavy rains and floods in south and central China had killed 211 people and left 119 missing as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
