A former official stood trial for murder Tuesday in a court in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Xie Zaixing, 48, former chief of the Communist Party of China's Committee in Ouhai District, Wenzhou City, is accused of killing Shao Huiling, a woman with whom he engaged in a nine-year extramarital relationship.
The Intermediate People's Court in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang, is hearing the case.
Shao's relatives wept during the court proceedings.
Xie was stripped of his administrative and Party posts before he was arrested in April this year.
