Thirteen people were killed and six others missing after floods swept through Yongji County in northeast China's Jilin Province, and disrupted life of 150,000 local residents, officials said Thursday.

The overnight rainfall reached 200 mm in Yongji County by early Wednesday morning, making it the heaviest torrential rain since the county had weather record, the official said.

Water supply, electricity and telecommunication has been cut in the Kouqian Town.

Train services have been suspended after Kouqian Train Station was surrounded by floodwater.

The flooding even swept two freight train carriages 50 meters from rest, the official said.

The provincial government has allocated 4.8 million yuan for the rescue and relief work after the rainstorms over the past two days forced more than 215,000 people in the province to evacuate for safety reasons.
