Zhao Jiang, a vice manager in a real estate company, said organizing large-scale exercise is unnecessary now because people are more conscious of their health. He also pointed out that many small companies don't have enough space for such activities, and that organizing other exercise activities after work would be more effective.

In fact, many companies do offer gym memberships to their employees or organize sports activities or fitness classes for them.

"Radio exercise is not compulsory," the municipal trade union said. "As long as workers have a good rest during their work breaks, employers can adopt all kinds of exercises suitable for them."

When radio exercise programs first began, they soon spread to 40 radio stations across the country. There were also radio exercise albums for those unable to receive radio broadcast. Radio exercises are updated about every five years according to people's fitness needs.
