5.4-magnitude earthquake jolts east Taiwan

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck Taiwan's Hualien City at 00:37 a.m. local time on Sunday, Taiwan's weather bureau said in a statement on its website.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 23.57 degrees north latitude, and 121.65 degrees east longitude, at a depth of about 27 kilometers.

No instant report of casualties is available.
