"Follow me to speak Mandarin," an educational TV series, has finished its last shoot and will be broadcast on local televisions in China. Wang Haoyu leads the program without much theoretical expressions but explains the critical points and encourages students and the audience to practice Mandarin.

Spreading Mandarin is every citizen's responsibility because it related closely with Chinese culture, social progress and national interest.

In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Law on Standard Spoken and Written Chinese Language, the Chinese Association of Education TVs directed and shot "Follow me to speak Mandarin." Famous TV hosts and hostess (including CCTV's Bai Yansong, Sun Xiaomei, A'Qiu, Zhang Zequn, Han Qiaosheng), poet (Wang Guozhen), singers and actress (Yu Wenhua, Yin Xiangjie and Shi Lan) participated in the program.

By combining an active teaching approach with emphasis on oral communication and enhanced by a multimedia display, the host demonstrates practical language use and the charm of Mandarin.

In addition, this TV series has simple introductions and explanations of Mandarin, including its origin and functions.

Professor Zhang Song, China's top linguist, believes this program has improved the efficiency of speaking Mandarin. Once listeners hear and comprehend correct pronunciation, the learners quickly get the knack, and Wang's fine articulation further adds charm to the written characters.
