Altogether six people were killed and four others injured in an explosion triggered by fireworks Saturday in a rural village business in north China's Hebei Province , said local authorities Sunday.

The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at Qianying Village, Dongwang Township of Dingzhou City, said a spokesman for Dingzhou City Government.

Two people were killed on the spot, while seven others were injured in the accident. Three of the injured died despite medical workers' efforts. While clearing the debris, local villagers found one more corpse which was recognized to be that of the rural business owner's daughter.

Preliminary investigation shows the explosion was caused by illegal production of fireworks at the village business. Local police said they would conduct further investigation over the accident.
