Police in Quanzhou, Fujian province, arrested a 23-year-old bride-to-be on the charge of indulging in prostitution recently.

The accused, whose wedding was scheduled for Nov 21, said her groom-to-be persuaded her into prostitution so that they could have a lavish wedding party.

The woman was caught while she was trying to strike her first deal.

"If my family came to know I was trying to sell my body, I will have no choice but to kill myself," she told the police, who chose not to tell the suspect's family of her arrest.
