China approves four death penalties

China's Supreme People's Court(SPC) has examined and approved the death penalty of four men, the SPC said in a statement Friday.

On Nov. 7, 2008, Zhu Guowei killed two neighbors and robbed more than 1,000 yuan(about 151 U.S. dollars) of cash and about 13,100 yuan worth of properties from their house including a necklace, a bracelet, a pair of eardrop and a cell phone.

Zhu was sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Anyang City in central Henan Province and a higher court in Henan Province upheld the death penalty.

The Supreme People's Court also approved the death penalty of Sun Yujun and Yin Jianli. They plundered more than 100,000 yuan in cash in 71 robberies across provinces of Henan and Anhui from April to August, 2007. They also raped three women and one of them a minor.

They were sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Shangqiu City in Henan Province and a higher court in Henan Province upheld the death penalty.

In another case, Wang Yihai was engaged in 23 rape cases in more than 20 villages in the counties of Linquan and Funan from the autumn of 2005 to March, 2008. Among the victims, four were minors. Wang also robbed 2,200 yuan in cash and properties in four households.

Wang was sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Fuyang City in eastern Anhui Province and a higher court in Anhui Province upheld the death penalty.
