The Chinese mainland police turned over a former Taiwan judge wanted on corruption charges on the island to the island's authorities Friday evening, a statement from the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office said.

Convicted bribe-taker Chang Bing-lung, formerly a judge in Hualien in east Taiwan, was recently detained in Guangyuan City in southwest China's Sichuan Province, the statement said.

Chang was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a Taiwan court in 2007. He fled to the mainland after the trial.

The mainland has returned to Taiwan about 70 suspects and criminals wanted on the island since the two sides reached an agreement on judicial cooperation last year.

Last month, the mainland police also handed over another wanted judge, Li Tung-ying, who was involved in running and covering up brothels in Tainan.
