Chinese police in southwest province Guizhou have arrested a key human trafficker suspect, who was believed to be behind the kidnappings of up to 17 women, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said Wednesday.

An Jinliang, 43, of Zhijin County, Guizhou, was arrested Monday by local police at a construction site in Jinyang New District of Guiyang, the provincial capital, less than two months after the MPS on Sept. 27 issued a warrant for his arrest.

Since 2006, An, in collusion with others, trafficked 17 women with mental disorders from cities including Guiyang, Anshun, Liuzhi to places like Zhijin and Nayong within the province, according to the ministry.

The MPS since April 2009 has issued arrest warrants for a total of 30 most-wanted human traffickers and so far 28 of them have been apprehended or brought to justice.
